MARILYN MONROE AND THE LITTLE LAMB FAMILY CIRCLE MAGAZINE COVER INFORMATION: The Family Circle was Marilyn Monroe's first solo USA nationally circulated magazine cover. Marilyn was unnamed and uncredited.
Marilyn Monroe's only USA cover appearance previous to this issue of Family Circle was earlier in 1946 seated with three others in a photo on front of the Douglas Airview, issued by the Douglas Aircraft Company, January 1946. Andre de Dienes photographed Marilyn Monroe/Norma Jeane in December 1945 in a meadow with baby lambs. At that time, she was modeling and going by the name of Norma Jeane Daugherty.
Marilyn was twenty years old, one year away from her first film appearance and two years away from her first minor film contract with Columbia Pictures. In 1949 still trying to make ends meet, she posed nude for photographer Tom Kelley. In 1952 one photo from that red velvet session famously known as Golden Dreams ended up on a USA lithograph company pinup calendar. Marilyn Monroe was a contract player with 20th Century Fox by then and the studio feared the photos would cause a scandal. PHOTOGRAPHER INFORMATION: ANDRE DE DIENES - December 18, 1913 - April 11, 1985 was a famous Hungarian-Romanian photographer.
